Police investigating the disappearance of Gateshead builder, Christopher Daunt in April last year have now charged a man with his murder.
The 28-year-old was last seen at North Lambton on March 29 2015 and his car was found abandoned a month later at Wallsend.
Detectives from Strike Force Retractor searched a home on Elaine Street at Rankin Park yesterday, taking a number of items for forensic examination and arresting a 33-year-old man.
He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with murder.
The man's been refused bail and is due to face Newcastle Local Court today.
The arrest follows the discovery of human remains at Seahampton.
